Conclusion
The world has changed completely on three major aspects including politics, economic, and socio-nature due to globalization. Many nations open borders to ingrate with the world and during that process, they not only gain other countries’ cultures, values, and traditions but also lost parts of themselves. There is a reason why the United States is called ‘the melting pot’, it’s because of its short history with the rest of the world, unique immigration history and absence of culinary traditions. The United States influences the world with americanization and in return, the US is impacted by the world as well. Globalization has generated numerous benefits in economic growth and the development of socio-culture which later boost the popularity of another product created by the US during the process of globalization, fusion cuisine. Economic growth resulted in technology innovation and foreign direct investment (FDI). Technology innovation helps fusion cuisine earns its international reputation through social media and the help of an automated purchasing tool which gains access to fresh food worldwide. Furthermore, FDI is the reason why several small food businesses in the Asian-American community have opportunities to present their creations to the world. Additionally, socio-cultural development brings about numerous possibilities to fusion cuisine culture with contemporary lifestyles and massive media consumption. Specifically, with globalization, people travel the world to eat and exhibit the experience on social media, they also want to taste the passion and authenticity in the dishes which makes room for more fusion and creativity. Lastly, globalization brings the notion of ‘fusion cuisine’ closer to people worldwide through the mass distribution of food shows, cooking shows, and social media accounts of celebrity chefs. In conclusion, globalization not only creates fusion cuisine but also distributes and popularizes it, greatly.
