What I watched in November 2021

Jessie Nguyen

It's the time when we meet again with my watched list of the month. Hello, my dearest readers! How have you been? Here is my list for November 2021.

SERIES
Love, Death + Robots (4.5/5)

According to IMDB, this is "a collection of animated short stories that span various genres including science fiction, fantasy, horror, and comedy." Each episode in this science fiction series has a deeper meaning behind it and it hooks viewers like me from the very first moment I started watching. It's also worth noting that the anthology isn't very fair to women. The series frequently uses various forms of violence as a plot device, which might be a little off-putting. Well, you should take a look, it's only about 12 minutes per episode.

The Morning Show (4.5/5)

After purchasing my iPad, I was given a 3-month free trial for Apple TV so this is the first show I watched on that platform. The series is about "An inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the men and women who carry out this daily televised ritual." - IMDB (2019). I can say comedy actors like Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carell can play their dramatic roles to perfection. I truly enjoy every moment they are on the screen. The show centers around the two big issues of the States at the moment 2 years ago, #Metoo & #Fakenews, and they have delivered their takes on the matters completely and given us a clear view of how people inside the story felt and reacted. It's a slow-burn drama tv so you should be patient to fully enjoy it.

Love Hard (2021) (3/5)

My dear Nina should be recognized and cast for better roles than just low-quality rom-com like this. I mean, have you seen her in The Vampire Diaries, she can play 5 different characters with only one face distinctively, why the hell no one in Hollywood has seen that? Love Hard is about "an LA girl, unlucky in love, falls for an East Coast guy on a dating app and decides to surprise him for the holidays, only to discover that she's been catfished. This lighthearted romantic comedy chronicles her attempt to reel in love." - IMDB (2021) What can I say? The characters are uninteresting, the performances are mediocre, and the script is almost immediately awful. But I still enjoy it when I don't watch it with my brain.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) (4/5)

After 10 years Iron Man debuted with the hint of The Ten Rings, we are finally able to see the original Mandarin on the big screen. IMDB (2021) states that the movie is about "Shang-Chi, the master of weaponry-based Kung Fu, is forced to confront his past after being drawn into the Ten Rings organization." The music, the martial art, the cinematography, everything is amazing. They attentively care for every detail related to Western culture and we appreciate that. It would be insane not to give Xialing a spin-off since she is a ferociously badass woman who easily stole her on-screen brother's spotlight. I mean, you should see the movie for yourself.

No time to die (2021) (4/5)

It's weird watching a Bond film without my dad, he just couldn't wait to see Bond's final movie. It's a beautiful tribute to Daniel Craig and his 20 years of playing the iconic Bond. The 25th Bond film continues to follow "James Bond who has left active service. His peace is short-lived when Felix Leiter, an old friend from the CIA, turns up asking for help, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology." - IMDB (2021) It's frequently rather amusing. The humor feels modern and British, and the tone is often closer to the perkier portions of the Connery films. The Phoebe Waller-Bridge script polish clearly got the desired result. After finishing the movie, I made Daniel Craig a tribute video which you can find it here.

Red Notice (2.5/5)

Can you believe this is the most expensive-made movie by Netflix? Well, yeah, if your answer is no, then mine is the same. Another very same movie that has ever been made by The Rock. The logline may be the shortest ever which goes: "An Interpol agent tracks the world's most wanted art thief." Red Notice is a star-studded, globe-trotting heist adventure complete with MacGuffins, twists, and double-crosses that plays like a parody of itself. And after two-hour runtime, it gets away with its lazy ending. I mean, if you want an entertaining movie, this is your perfect choice.

The Bourne Identity (2002) (4/5)

The movie is about "a man who is picked up by a fishing boat, bullet-riddled and suffering from amnesia, before racing to elude assassins and attempting to regain his memory." I know I'm late to the party but I can't deny how good this franchise is. From the first shot until the fade-out, The Bourne Identity keeps you on the edge of your seat without relying on clichés or soundtrack, this film awakens all the senses.

The Bourne Supremacy (2004) (4.5/5)

The second film continues "when Jason Bourne is framed for a CIA operation gone awry, he is forced to resume his former life as a trained assassin to survive." A conventionally heightened series of escapes, fights, and hide-and-seek gambits, but nothing feels guaranteed, that is, anything seems inevitable. What you're experiencing has a name. "Excitement" is the term for it.

The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) (4/5)

The Bournes franchise just keeps getting better, doesn't it? "Jason Bourne dodges a ruthless C.I.A. official and his Agents from a new assassination program while searching for the origins of his life as a trained killer." - IMDB (2007) For action junkies, the last film of the original trio will hit you like crystal meth. Faster and, if possible, more enraged than its forerunners. See it for yourself.

Well, that's all I watched in the month of November 2021 and I ensure you the list of December will be even shorter than this so enjoy while it still lasts. See you next month!
